Best ever Golden Guide spreading the word about changes.

Jan 20, 2014   //   News

The popular FREE Golden Guide for over 50s comes out this week looking super smart with a brand new stylish design and with more information than ever before!

Packed with contacts, handy hints, and advice on money, health, care, transport and leisure, the Northumberland guide has covered more topics than ever. So much that the whole guide has been redesigned with extra pages, a helpful index, and has even gone online in a handy flipbook format too.

Editor Heather Alabaster says: ‘The Golden Guide is different every year—there’s always change in every section. This year there’s more of everything to report. As well as our lists of activities, we want our readers to be up to date with things that matter to them, whether it’s money, health or care issues. The guide helps them find advice wherever they live in the county. We’ve crammed in lots extra but it’s even easier to use with its new style, an index and better online coverage too. Look out for new information on pensions and benefits, befriending schemes and advocacy help as well as where to find beginner classes on using the internet

The Golden Guide is supported by its partners Northumberland County Council, Northumberland Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Age UK Northumberland, along with other generous sponsors.

Daljit Lally, Northumberland’s Executive Director for Wellbeing and Community Health Services, adds ‘It’s so important that people can find the information they need—and with big changes coming in health and social care the Golden Guide is a great way to let everyone know what’s happening. It has so many useful contacts I would encourage everyone to get hold of a new edition this year.’

Over at Age UK Northumberland Chief Executive Katherine Shearer says ‘Advice for older people has always been a crucial part of our work—the Golden Guide fits right in with that commitment. It helps to spread the word about the many other support and care services we offer across the county—they’re all in there – take a look!
