Evaluation shows Clever Clogs Publishing is spot on the Money
Following the publication in July 2009 of the first Golden Guide to Money for Older People in Stockton on Tees – independent evaluation, just completed, has shown the new guide to be on the money for useful information.
The Department of Health North East commissioned the research as part of its package of sponsorship for the Money Guide and the results detail excellent comments about its usefulness, jargon-free language, ease of use and clear presentation.
The Guide was produced in partnership with Age Concern Teesside, the Dept of Health NE and various other sponsors to offer over 50s in Stockton information on managing their finances, as well as contact details for local, regional or national bodies who can provide help and advice on a wide range of financial matters.
Written in the usual easy Golden Guide style, the Golden Guide to Money hoped Stockton residents would like this brand new title. Results show that they were very happy indeed, with 74.36% of those asked finding its information ‘very useful’ or ‘useful’ and a whopping 93% particularly pleased with the section on Benefits.
Another large total – 82% of respondents indicated that it was ‘very easy’ or ‘easy’ to use the guide to find the information they wanted.
Golden Guide editor Heather Alabaster says “We have had fantastic feedback from older people themselves and from the agencies and advisers working in the Money advice field in Stockton. The guide gives clear basic information, and a lot of local contacts – it’s just what people want to give them a bit of confidence in handling their finances and also in seeking help when they need to. We’re delighted with its performance.”
Elizabeth Briggs of Age Concern Teesside said “We should give ourselves a pat on the back – the evaluation has come out really well, with great ideas for future issues too”
The most popular sections of the Golden Guide to Money were those on Benefits, Pensions; Savings and Investments; Consumer Problems and Insurance. Other topics covered are Maximising your Income, Debt, Credit and Finding Loans, Understanding Tax and Legal Affairs.
Copies are available from Age Concern Teesside, or from Stockton Central Library, Pensions Service, Stockton Information and Advice Centre, Welfare Benefits Team, Tees Credit Union, Tristar Homes Money Adviser and others.
