Golden Future for Stockton Guide
Just two years on from the first appearance of the Golden Guide for Older People, a brand new and improved second edition has been published in response to overwhelming demand from older residents and their carers across the Borough.
The chunky free guide, produced by community information specialists Clever Clogs Publishing in partnership with Stockton Borough Council and Age Concern Teesside, is packed with facts and tips on money, consumer rights, health issues, care advice with a very popular section on leisure activities, to help people find out what is on offer, who can help them locally, and how to get in touch.
Peter Smith of Stockton’s Supporting People Team says “Feedback showed how useful these books are, we were inundated with requests for more, so we are delighted to have helped produce a completely updated new edition. As part of our commitment to improving the lives of older people in both urban and rural areas it means we can bring them to the widest possible audience.”
Elizabeth Briggs of Age Concern Teesside adds ““There is always a need for quality local information – now the Golden Guides are established as a major local resource we are looking forward to working with our partners to make sure they remain in print, and available free, for everyone over 50.
The Golden Guide will be launched at Stockton’s “Are You Being Served” event at the Oakwood Centre in Eaglescliffe on Wed. 22 October, 2008 where copies will be distributed. They will also be given out by libraries, health staff, social care workers, information and support workers across the Borough and by Age Concern Teesside.
