Look out for Living Easy …
Look out for Living Easy….
Living Easy, 2012 Disability and Mental Health support, Northumberland
A brand new title from the Golden Guide team, packed with details of facilities, services and specialist equipment for people with disabilities or mental health conditions in Northumberland.
Living Easy is written for people with disabilities, their families, friends and carers – but will also be invaluable for practitioners, support groups, service providers, and other professionals working in this field.
Editor Heather Alabaster says: “We’re so excited about this new publication – it came about after talking to Northumberland’s Long Term Conditions Forum. They wanted something similar in style to the Golden Guide, but focussed on their particular needs. It fits exactly with our own aims – because we believe that getting good local information out to people promotes self-reliance, and independence and results in a better quality of life all round.”
Also working with Alabaster Publishing on the project are Alnwick based Need Ltd, a community transport and disability organisation, who work across the region. Chief Executive Vee Robinson says “Good transport provision is crucial to allow people to have a full and active life wherever they live and whatever their circumstances – and Living Easy holds loads of information on this so we’re delighted to be able to support it. We’ll be delivering it far and wide when it comes out!”
As well as a chunky section on Transport and mobility other topics include: social groups, activities and holidays, home adaptations and specialist equipment, support groups and organisations, and a much requested section on Money, with entries on employment, benefits, pensions and legal affairs.
So whether you are living with a long term condition, recovering from a hospital stay, or would just like to find out more – look out for Living Easy Northumberland, coming along in Autumn 2012.
We are also running a waiting list for copies – so to make sure you get yours hot off the press, please contact us with your address details and we will send one out to you as soon as we can.
Look out for Living Easy – we hope it will help make life just a bit easier than before!
