Stockton Golden Guide Making its Mark
As the 2012 edition of the Golden Guide comes out this week, more people than ever are asking for copies. This FREE local handbook for over 50s in Stockton Borough has been in great demand every year, but as its reputation spreads so do the requests for the 5000 copies.
As usual the popular local guide has been thoroughly updated and comes packed out with facts and tips on health and care, leisure and transport information—and an extended Money advice section this time – all with local contacts.
Editor Heather Alabaster says “The Golden Guide has become really well known now – we’ve had many more requests for copies from all over Stockton and district. As well as the Libraries, this time they’re going to Tees Active Leisure Centres, Arc, Care providers, health support groups and there will be extra for Stockton’s housing tenants too. It’s true there could be pressure on copies, so I hope we’ll be able to increase the print run next time round. “
Ian Bartlett, Manager of Stockton’s Advice and Information Centre adds “We’re very pleased to be highlighted in the Golden Guide again this year—it matches our own commitment to provide the best information we can, especially in terms of Money and Debt advice. Too many people do not know where to go when advice is needed so even if you do not need it now, keep a copy in the kitchen drawer just in case you, your family or your friends need to know where to go if things get a bit difficult
Annabel Turpin, Chief Executive of Arc, Stockton’ s Arts Centre says ”ARC has a fantastic programme of activities specially designed for over 50s from ukulele to Tai Chi to subsidised matinee cinema screenings. We are pleased ARC’s ‘Silver’ offer will be featured in the Golden Guide this year alongside all the other great things for over 50s to get involved in. We’re looking forward to getting our copies too!
The Golden Guide is available now from:
Library branches, Stockton Advice & Information Service, Stockton Arc, Billlingham Forum, Thornaby Pavilion, Splash, George Hardwick Foundation, 3 Score Years and 10 Care, CSV/RSVP, Housing providers, Care Managers and other selected outlets. A full copy will also shortly be available on this website.
