The Clever Clogs Golden Guide For Older People In Northumberland

Jul 12, 2006   //   News

In partnership with Age Concern Northumberland Clever Clogs Publishing is about to publish a new guide for older people. Second in the highly-praised Golden Guide series, this nifty handbook combs the county for activities, events and facilities of interest to anyone over 50. From Berwick in the North across to Haltwhistle, Hexham and down to Prudhoe, Cramlington and Blyth it carries information on everything from Benefit Checks, Bus Passes and Starting a Business through to Care Homes, Counselling and Consumer Advice.

Editor Heather Alabaster says “Everyone we spoke to was so positive about Northumberland and there is a lot going on, but the problem is getting the information through to residents in rural areas. We have included hundreds of local contacts, and we will be spending time distributing the guide to as many nooks and crannies as we can find.”

Age Concern Northumberland’s Information and Campaigns Officer Marie McWilliams added “Age Concern has always been aware of the need for quality local information for those who may not have easy access to it, through frailty, disability or rural isolation. The new guide will be ideal and will become a hugely important resource for older people, their carers and all the volunteers and professionals who work with them.”

5000 FREE copies will be distributed on publication in early September 2006, via libraries, community centres, health staff, information and support workers and via Age Concern’s website.

For more information, to find out about the official launch, or to express interest in receiving a copy please contact Heather Alabaster on 0191-386 5918.
