Clever Clogs Shows That Quality Counts At Waitrose

Community publisher Clever Clogs has teamed up with Waitrose Durham to promote the brand new Clever Clogs Children’s Guide County Durham. Waitrose prides itself on its support for local suppliers of quality produce. This makes it a fitting partnership for local firm Clever Clogs Publishing, well-known for their family, teenage and older people’s guides across the North East region.

Editor Heather Alabaster says: “Over the years we have built a reputation for producing high quality information for families – we are specialists and we are passionate about our handbooks and guides. Mums everywhere are wanting this book – it’s absolutely stuffed with useful information from sport, music and drama, to beaches, birthday parties and Brownies – it’s full of fun for children, and best of all it’s local.

“We’re delighted it’s doing well, as it so nearly disappeared when our County funding ended – it’s simply sheer demand from loyal parents and professionals that has kept it afloat. To stock it in Waitrose will make it even more accessible for local families”

Mum of two Clare Zon of North End, Durham says – “It’s a great little book – well-designed and so easy to use it’s like a personal helpline – everything’s in there.”

As well as fun stuff the guide also carries helpful information on education, such as how to apply for school places, getting help with bullying, extra tuition, independent schools, as well as toddler groups and nurseries for younger ones. And there is essential health information on out of hours care, health visitors, school nurses, emergency dentists etc

Waitrose Assistant Section Manager Gail Farrar adds “By endorsing the guide we are not only offering parents a helping hand in publicising local opportunities for children, but we are also supporting a top class small business. It all helps to enrich the local community – it’s what we’re about.

“And with good weather forecast for the summer holidays – we think this guide will be a godsend for parents getting out and about with their children.”

The Clever Clogs Children’s Guide goes on sale at Waitrose in The Gates Shopping Centre Durham this week, price 6.99.
